I’m a new retiree, what should I know about Retirement?
Retiree Union Dues
Retirees pay $4/month for continued membership. This works out to $48/year. We ask that you pay your retirement dues for the next year by the end of December.
Example: 2025 Retiree dues should be paid by December 31, 2024.
Your first year of Retiree Union dues is due the year you retire, prorated for the months left in the year.
Example: If you retire in September, your dues owing is $4 per month until the end of the year (October, November, December = 3 Months x 4 = $12 owing for the current year).
Retirement Gift
New Retirees are entitled to a retirement gift from the Union to celebrate your years of service. We will send you a letter explaining the gift choices, and you can call or visit us at the office.
Bus Pass
ETS: COE Retirees in good standing, and their spouses, are entitled to a Retiree bus pass issued by the City of Edmonton, to allow them free access to Edmonton Public Transit.
Red Deer: Red Deer retirees are entitled to a bus pass, issued through Red Deer Transit. We will provide you with the phone number to access this pass in your retiree letter.
Retirement Banquet
Every year we hold a retirement banquet to honour recent retirees and 50 year members. Our retiree honourees are usually those who have retired between September the previous year to August the current year. If your retirement date falls past August of the current year, you will be included in the retirement honourees for the next year. Our 50 year honourees are all those who have or will become 50 year members in the current year.
Example: The 2024 Retirement Banquet honoured those who retired between September of 2023 and August of 2024, and all members who reached their 50th year of membership in 2024.

What can you tell me about Union social events?
Social events are posted in garages, and retirees get a flyer or email to keep them up to date. Our Social events are usually in the spring/summer and fall/winter each year. These events may be held at popular attractions such as the World Waterpark in West Edmonton Mall. Here are some important things to know: Please also read the poster for relevant information, and if you have further questions, contact the union office.
- Attendance at these events is free for Union members in good standing, and their family members.
- Each member is typically allowed up to 5 tickets to bring their families with them.
- Tickets are available at the door on a first come/first serve basis.
- Arriving early will ensure you will get a ticket and parking for these popular events.

I am executor to the estate of a Union member who has recently passed away. What should I do?
When our active or retired members in good standing pass away, the executor of their estate should reach out to the Union office to inform us of their passing. Please contact us at 780-426-6136 to speak to administration and learn more about next steps.
I need to talk to a Union Rep, but I can’t get ahold of anyone! What do I do?
Each table officer has an area they specialize in, and ideally the person who is in charge of your area would be your point of contact.
| Table Officer | Area of Specialty |
|---|---|
| Steve Bradshaw President | All member inquiries and media inquiries |
| Damir Begovic Financial Secretary/Treasurer | St Albert, EOD, Transit Security/TPO’s, ETS Operators Overflow |
| Daryll Miller Vice President/Operations | ETS Operators, DATS, Inspectors, and Red Deer Operators |
| Daniel Revega Maintenance | Maintenance, Fleet Services, WCB |
The Officers also have additional responsibilities, such as interorganizational meetings, bargaining, conferences, and other Union business. Please be patient. If a table officer is not available, we will do our best to have another Union representative, such as a board member or shop steward, represent you at the time of your meeting.
You are entitled to Union representation, and if we cannot provide it at the time scheduled, the City will accommodate rescheduling your meeting so that you are fairly represented.
You can reach out for a Union Representative either through your supervisor, or on your own by contacting the office: office@atu569.ca or 780-426-6136
